Local Directory started with a simple idea: finding a business you can trust nearby shouldn’t take twenty open tabs and a dozen conflicting reviews. We built a single place where real, verified information about local businesses lives — hours, licenses, services and pricing, kept current by the businesses themselves.
What began as a directory for a handful of neighborhoods has grown into a network covering hundreds of cities, but the goal hasn’t changed: help people find a business worth calling, and help good businesses get found.
Every listing goes through the same verification process before it goes live, and stays current through the same review cycle after. Specifically, we:
Sponsored placements are clearly labeled and never affect a business’s underlying rating — money buys visibility, never trust.
We think a directory only earns its place if it’s more accurate than a search engine and more current than a printed guide. That means erring on the side of removing a listing we can’t verify, rather than leaving stale information up.
“A directory is only useful the day someone can trust it enough to actually pick up the phone.”
