Every business on ilocality is added by hand from information we can trace back to a source. This page explains what we check, what a “Verified” license means, and what it does not mean.
Where listing details come from
Name, phone number, website, address, service area and hours come from the business’s own website or from the business itself. We record the source for every listing. We do not copy reviews, star ratings or photos from Google, Yelp or any other site.
How we check licenses
- We list the license number the business publishes, together with the state board that issued it.
- We look that number up on the board’s official public search: the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners for plumbers, and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for electricians and air conditioning contractors.
- Until that check is done, the license shows as Pending review. Once the number, the name and an active status match, it shows as Verified with the date we checked.
- Every license on a profile links to the official lookup, so you can check it yourself.
What “Verified” does not mean
A verified license means the state board lists that license as held by that business. It is not a rating of the quality of their work, a guarantee, or an endorsement by ilocality. Businesses cannot pay to have a license marked as verified.
Trust facts
Insurance, bonding, year founded, warranty and languages are shown only when the business states them, and we keep a note of where they were stated.
